Celebrate the return of summer at “Blooms, Baskets, and Bocce: A May Day Event” on Saturday, May 3, from 12 to 5 p.m. at the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site in Jamestown. The free, family-friendly celebration will feature traditional May Day activities both inside the historic courthouse and outside on the green.
Enjoy paper flower crafting, May Day basket making, and historical exhibits indoors. Outdoor activities include cornhole, bocce ball, croquet, and a maypole dance. The event highlights the rich history of May Day, with ties to Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and German spring festivals.
The courthouse, a hub for community gatherings in the past, continues the tradition by hosting this celebration. No registration is required, and all ages are welcome.
The Stutsman County Courthouse is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
